Top 5 FAQ:

1.What are the most widely used eco-friendly plasticizers in global markets today?

The mainstream alternatives are citrate esters (ATBC), diisononyl cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylate (DINCH), epoxidized vegetable oils (EVO/ESO), and bio-based plasticizers derived from vegetable oils. They are widely adopted in food packaging, medical materials, toys and PVC soft products.

2.Why are traditional phthalate plasticizers being restricted worldwide?
Many ortho-phthalates (e.g., DEHP, DBP, BBP) are classified as reproductive toxicants and endocrine disruptors. Strict regulations including EU REACH SVHC, US CPSC, and California Proposition 65 ban or limit their use in consumer, food-contact and children’s products.

3.What are the key pain points when switching to eco-friendly plasticizers?
The main challenges are higher material cost, adjustments required for processing parameters (gelation, compatibility, volatility), and performance gaps in low-temperature flexibility or extraction resistance compared to conventional phthalates.

4.Which regulatory standards dominate the global market for non-toxic plasticizers?
Key certifications and rules include EU REACH, FDA 21 CFR (food contact), EU 10/2011 (plastic food materials), EN 71 (toys) and USP Class VI (medical applications). Compliance is mandatory for high-end markets.

5.What are the fastest-growing trends in eco-friendly plasticizers?
The market is shifting toward 100% bio-based content, high-durability non-migratory grades, and multi-functional plasticizers that improve both flexibility and flame retardancy. Demand is strongest in medical PVC, food packaging and automotive interior materials.
